The Youth Red Cross Society is a worldwide, well known, universally accepted, admired and internationally identified humanitarian service organization. It was established in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland. The father of Red Cross movement and recipient of Nobel award for peace in 1901 was “Jean Henry Dunant”, who was a successful businessman.
Youth Red Cross has the following three principles:
To inculcate the feeling of service of mankind, college has formed the Youth Red Cross Society.
More than 50 volunteers are actively involved in social activities under Youth Red Cross Society of S. Govt College of Science Education and Reseach, Jagraon.
YRCS of the college has conducted various competitions like essay writing competition on 8th June, 2020 on the topic “Battling Covid-19 with World Red Cross Society”. Seven students of the college participated in the competition, out of which, Mehargurvir Singh of B.Sc. III NM, Khushi Jindal of B.Sc. I NM & Manmeet Kaur of B.Sc. III NM secured Ist, IInd and IIIrd position respectively. Also, some students prepared posters on AIDS- Causes, Spread & Treatment.
YRCS conducted e-Poster Presentation on 21st December, 2020 on the theme “Covid-19: Its impact on Society & Environment” Seven students of the college participated in the competition, out of which, Khushi Jindal of B.Sc. II NM stood 1st, Ramandeep Kaur of B.Sc. III NM stood 2nd, Jaskiran Kaur of B.Sc. NM, and Osheen Kapoor of B.Sc. II NM together secured 3rd prize.
YRCS of the college has planned to conduct following activities:
Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in Educational Institutions through which institutes aware their students regarding AIDS. Our college forms red ribbon club every year and the club organises activities for student to aware them about the blood diseases. This year club organises an essay writing competition on AIDS: awareness and prevention on 1st december, 2022.
